A mineral exploration company had submitted two licence applications that stalled at the Department of Minerals and Geoscience level due to incomplete environmental documentation and an outstanding land use objection from an adjacent landowner.

Solution

Guardianship and Estate Planning — Klang Valley Family

Challenge

An adult son sought legal assistance for his elderly mother, who had begun showing signs of cognitive decline. The family had not yet put in place any formal arrangements and was uncertain about the appropriate mechanism under Malaysian law.

Solution

Challenge

Two first-time fund managers were establishing a Malaysia-focused venture capital fund. They had term sheets from anchor limited partners but needed constitutional documents, LP agreements, and management company structure advice before first close could proceed.

Solution

Stonehelm prepared the fund's constitutional documents, LP agreement, and investment management agreement. The team advised on Securities Commission registration requirements and the appropriate legal structure for the management company, taking into account the managers' specific circumstances.
